After using the scaler on my very first patient, it quickly became my favorite instrument. I noticed that I do not need to apply much force to effectively remove calculus, which makes my clinical work significantly more efficient. The new Glacier instruments from American Eagle Instruments are a gamechanger in scalers and curettes. The extreme sharpness and the angle of the sharp edge make for effective scaling with very low lateral pressure placing much less strain on hands and fingers than any other instrument I have tried. The altered geometry of the blade makes them effective at most angles which makes placement easier in areas that are normally harder to access.
