XP Double Gracey™

Two Graceys, one instrument, lots of benefits

universal

ergonomic

lightweight

customisable

The revolutionary Double Gracey™ instruments offer the effectiveness of Gracey curettes, while at the same time enabling economical use on a par with universal instruments!

Two Gracey curettes in a single instrument!

The Double Gracey™ has a rounded back and two cutting edges – combining two instruments in one. The cutting edge of the Double Gracey™ is raised to form gently sloping edges at an angle of approximately 110° measured from the lower shank.

The angles of the facial surface and cutting edge allow the user to use the Double Gracey™ in the same way as conventional Gracey curettes with the working end parallel to the tooth axis.

There are four Double Gracey™ instruments in total: Anterior and Posterior as well as the Mini Anterior and Posterior versions. The Double Gracey™ Anterior combines the Gracey 1-2 curette for all anterior surfaces with the Gracey 7-8 for all buccal and oral surfaces of premolars and molars. The Double Gracey™ Posterior combines the Gracey 15-16 mesial with the Gracey 13-14 distal curette. This enables you to switch directly from one surface or tooth to the next, without changing instruments.

The Double Gracey™ Anterior combines the Gracey 1-2 curette for all anterior surfaces with the Gracey 7-8 for all buccal and oral surfaces of premolars and molars.

The Double Gracey™ Anterior and Mini Anterior allow the practitioner to remove anywhere from a small amount to a larger amount of tartar. You can use it to switch between working on buccal and lingual surfaces, without having to change position.

The Double Gracey™ Posterior combines the Gracey 15-16 mesial with the Gracey 13-14 distal curette.

Double Gracey™ Posterior and Mini Posterior are held in an ergonomic 12 o’clock position. The handle can be held parallel to the tooth surface. It is possible to switch between working on mesial and distal surfaces, without changing position.

Double Gracey™ and XP Technology® – made for each other

The development and production of the Double Gracey™ instruments was only made possible by XP Technology®. The specially manufactured working ends of the Double Gracey™ would quickly lose their original shape and effectiveness with regular sharpening. It is only thanks to XP that the intricate design of the cutting edge can be maintained throughout the entire service life of the instruments – without sharpening!

XP Technology® is a patented surface treatment process. The instrument surface is metallurgically optimised, making it much more durable. This process allows for the production of thinner instrument tips with sharper blades. Time-consuming sharpening of instruments is thereby eliminated.

Double Gracey™ vs. standard XP Instruments

The standard set is recommended for use in subgingival calculus removal and biofilm management. Here is an overview of the specific areas of application of the two Double Gracey™ curettes. Two instruments replace a full set of standard Gracey curettes.

Usually, you need 4 standard Gracey curettes for a complete treatment.

Double Gracey™ Mini
vs. XP Access instruments

Double Gracey™ Mini – for easy access to deep and narrow pockets and furcations. Two instruments replace a complete set of Gracey Access curettes. These working ends have 50% shorter working ends and a 3 mm longer terminal shank than the standard Double Gracey curettes.

Frequently asked questions about XP Double Gracey™ curettes

What are the advantages of Double Gracey™ instruments?

The advantage of using American Eagle Double Gracey™ is the ease of adjustment to mesial and distal as well as buccal and lingual surfaces, without changing or rotating the instrument.

Can a Double Gracey™ set completely replace a standard Gracey set?

For many applications, a standard set can be reduced to just two Double Graceys. However, there are also applications such as deep scaling where Access Pro Thin curettes are recommended – these are designed even more delicately for such applications.

What are the special features of the Mini versions of the Double Graceys™?

The Mini versions of the dental curettes provide easier access to deeper pockets, narrower interdental spaces and furcations. Thanks to the XP Technology® from American Eagle Instruments, all Double Graceys are maintenance-free (no sharpening necessary).

Are the Double Gracey™ curettes also available as Quik-Tips™?

Yes, the instruments can also be assembled with economical Quik-Tip™ tips. The colour of the EagleLite® handles can also be freely selected here.

I would like the Double Gracey™ in the Talon Tough version with stainless steel working ends.

Production of the Double Gracey™ instruments was only made possible by the development of the innovative XP Technology®.

The specially manufactured working ends of the Double Gracey™ would quickly lose their original shape and effectiveness with regular sharpening. The special design of the cutting edges must be maintained throughout the entire useful life of the instrument.

Therefore, the Double Gracey™ instruments are not available with Talon Tough™ stainless steel working ends.
